Gifts and a Getaway

I've received some really wonderful mail lately...

These fun treats above are from Sadie Lou. I was thrilled to have won a giveaway on her blog! I got to choose any 3 items from her etsy shop!!! I chose this sweet baby collage pack and embellished card by Sadie. I've been gathering goodies to *finally* start working on the Littlest One's baby book. These are perfect! I also got one of Sadie's fabulous Betsy Ornaments. I bought 2 little blondies at Christmas for the girls... now I have a brunette for me !!! :)

This stunning bracelet and vanity tray came from Laura. Another blog giveaway win!!! Can you believe it!?!?!? I got to choose which bracelet and tray I'd like from her etsy shop!

This pink chandelier pillow I ordered from Teresa at French Poppy. It's beautiful. As soon as I saw it, I just had to have it. A little gift to myself. :) She's got other styles and colors too... I'm sure I'll be back for more!

I *finally* finished up a few gifts too!


This is a nest that is flying to Europe!

The nest already had the eggs and berries on it when I purchased it. I just foofed it up with some vintage flowers and a pretty glittery bird.

And below is a gift for a sweet customer. She really liked the journal that I made for Tiffany and had asked if I could make her a tag like it. Well... this ended up being a little larger than a tag... LOL.
Hope she likes it!!!


I also wanted to let you know that we are heading off for vacation. Speckled Egg will be closed from June 25th to June 30th. You can still place orders during this time, but shipping will not resume until July 1st. I also will not be able to answer emails during this time.

I'll be adding some great new art treats to the website when I return... new and restocked German scraps, velvet millinery flowers and leaves, ephemera, and other papery goodies!

Gettin' all Willy Nilly

Ooooooh! I've been waiting for this day for quite some time! My lovely, sweet, and SOOOO talented friend, Michele, just opened her ETSY shop!!! It is called Willy Nilly... how fun is that!?!?! Run over there right now and see all of the wonderful handmade things and embellishment kits that she has been putting together!

I just bought this pretty little paperweight to add to my collection of Michele's art. Even her photos are amazing.... sigh.... I LOVE the colors that she uses, and all of the authentic vintage components. Soft and beautiful. Just perfect.

Just the tip of the iceberg

I've been so lucky lately at the flea markets and yard sales finding vintage jewelry. And I hit the jackpot when a sweet friend of mine was doing some de-stashing a few weeks ago. Most of the lovelies in these photos are from her. Amazing stuff, huh??? And these photos just show a tiny fraction of what I've collected.

I've been wanting to make my own jewelry for quite some time. I've had so much fun hosting and participating in charm swaps... and I've made a few charm bracelets and necklaces here and there. I love old beads and findings (as you can tell from my shop). So it seems like a natural fit. The problem has been that I really don't know proper jewelry-making techniques. So, I've signed myself up for a few classes at a local bead shop to hopefully fix that!

My free time and available space has become more and more limited lately. But, I really miss making things. I thought this would be a fun new creative outlet. The supplies don't take up much room, and I can leave a project on the dining room table without creating a huge mess. I can work on a piece for a little while and come back to it hours or days later.

I'm so excited to learn something new!

I really love the idea of turning these old cast-offs into something new and unique.

Can't wait to show you what becomes of these treasures!

The tooth fairy was here!

My Little One has had a wiggly tooth for several weeks. Her first one! Yesterday morning it finally fell out. I had plans of buying her a cute Tooth Fairy pillow or box, but I kept putting it off. And now we needed one right away. So, we made our own!


This is what we came up with. It was a fun project to do with her. She picked out what she wanted on it, and I *tried* to make it work. Pink and blue, flowers, stars, and a teddy bear. I think it turned out pretty cute! A little over-the-top, but that's what this 5 year-old likes. :)

The Tooth Fairy came last night and left her $5... and sprinkled some glitter around the box. I think my Little One was more excited about the fairy dust than the money...
