Mr. Postman

I have the best mail carrier ever. Not only does he bring me fabulous mail, but he never grumbles about all of the boxes that I receive (and I get A LOT). Just such a nice guy.

He recently delivered some special treats.

The uber-talented Beth Quinn and I did a little trade earlier this month. I had the pleasure of meeting Beth in person at Silver Bella and she is a doll! This is my third piece of her jewely, and it is delightful. I asked for light blue and cream, and she rocked it! I really, really, really love this piece! Go visit her shop, and I'm sure you will find something that you'll love too!


This sweet little Bat Girl is a trade from my new friend Crystal. I had stumbled upon her blog a few weeks ago, and had seen her AMAZING spun cotton creatures. You can see more of them here. I will definitely be starting a collection of these little guys. So whimsical! I just LOVE her style and use of white-on-white. She's fairly new to blogging, and I'm sure she'd love for you to stop by and say hello!


And finally, my pal Melissa just celebrated her birthday. I had found a vintage horse show ribbon, that had her birth year on it. I thought it would be a fun little gift for her, so I ordered it. After it arrived, I remembered the fun ribbons that Kari and Kimla had made last year. My friend Cheryl (I just can't wait for her new website!) has also been making ribbons with crepe paper and vintage images. So, I was feeling inspired and thought it would be fun to foof up this one too! I took the original ribbon apart and added some ribbons, lace, vintage pearls, and millinery... then layered it back together. I think I may have gone a little overboard though!!!

New Goodies in the Shop (finally...)

I must admit that lately I've had a hard time working.

I'm just enjoying the summer too much with my girls.
Which isn't a bad thing... we've been having lots of fun.
Playdates, day trips, ice cream, chillin' by the kiddie pool...
Trying to squeeze out every possible bit of fun of these fabulous summer days.
My Little One will be heading to kindergarten in September, so these are our last days before she enters school and has a lot less free-time.
But, I've also been promising a shop update since early June.
These boxes and piles of goodies that I've been collecting are starting to make me dizzy... heehee.
Even though we are still in the middle of summer, I know that many of us are starting to think about projects for the Fall. I've added some fabulous new things to the shop that would be perfect for these creations.

Vintage 1940's fabric scraps. Delicious colors and pretty floral prints.

Lots of vintage ephemera.

New colors of German Scrap, including this yummy chocolate border. Also, two styles of a matte orange border, perfect for Halloween! (Plus many re-stocks.)

Lots of the velvet flowers and leaves have been re-stocked, plus new colors of the flat blossoms and these shimmery velvet leaves.

I'm also happy to share that Kari has asked me to be a guest designer on her Sweet and Sinister Halloween Blog! I'm so excited and have a million ideas brewing for fun Halloween projects! You can read all about it here. The swap part is full, but you can still sign up to be a part of the blog fun... full of ideas and inspiration!

And finally, Speckled Egg will be celebrating its 4th birthday in a few weeks! I'm working on some fun giveaways, free gifts, crafty tutorials, and a new swap. I can't wait!!!!

Gifts from the Sea

The "Jewels of the Sea" pendant swap that I hosted is complete. All the boxes of beautiful jewels have found their way to their new homes. This was such a fun swap. The best part was the participants... they were AMAZING. What a fabulous group of ladies! So much thoughtfulness and generosity.

All of the pendants for the swap can be seen here. Check out the amazing packaging on some of these beauties. Wow. I received lots of these fabulous pendants as gifts for hosting the swap. I've now got quite a collection! I'm looking for a way to display all of them. As soon as I find what I'm looking for, I will be sure to post pics!

I wanted to share some photos of some other gifts that I received.


This stunning octopus came from Lisa at One Star Away. Her work is amazing... my mouth literally hit the floor when I opened this beauty. I found Lisa's work several months ago on etsy... I purchased a few of her party hats for gifts. They are even more fabulous than the pictures!!! Be sure to visit her and check out her shop for some serious eye-candy!


This shell encrusted frame came made by Fanny! Isn't it lovely??? The picture really doesn't do it justice! Shells, beads, and glitter... some of my most favorite things! Just perfect! I can't wait to put a fun picture of my girls at the beach in it!


How sweet is this!?!?!? Jenny sent me this beautifully decorated box! I LOVE this sooo much! I have a thing for decorated boxes... and this is my new favorite!
And as if the box weren't enough... inside were these!!!


A gorgeous pink pendant and earring set!!! Jenny was so sweet... she also made each of the players an ATC for playing in the swap!

The kindness of our little blogging world really blows me away.

Jewels of the Sea

Thank you so much for the sweet birthday wishes! I had a wonderful day with my girls including lunch, shopping, and a trip to Chuck E Cheese's (that's what happens when you let a 5 year old be the event planner:). We had a great time though! My sweetie had to work a realllly long day, but I let him off the hook since he snuck out for an hour to bring me one of these. Yummmm.

I stretched the birthday festivities all week. Lunch with my best friend, a day trip to visit my sister, dinner at my parents. I'm officially having a "birthweek" from now on... one day just isn't long enough to get everything in!

They're July babies too!


In other news, the Jewels of the Sea Swap that I'm hosting is wrapping up. You can see some of the fabulous pendants that the players created here. Really gorgeous stuff!

These are the ones that I made. I finally put to use some of the vintage components that I've been hoarding! These were made with a vintage chandelier crystal, pearls, and glass beads. I really love the colors... it's actually the same palette of colors found throughout my house. Lots of shades of whites with some aqua, light green, and a touch of pink.


I guess that's all for now... time to get back to packing orders. I have several boxes (and random piles) of goodies to add to the shop as well. I've been promising them to you for a while now, haven't I? Soon, I promise. For real, this time! :)
