Nesting Collection Tutorial

I was super excited earlier this winter when Deb, from Say-it-with-Letters invited me to be a guest designer for her! Deb's company makes the most amazing custom cut shapes and letters. They are made of MDF and are super smooth and wonderful to paint or collage on. No sanding! She has hundreds of designs to choose from, and does custom work as well. Plus they all have notches on the back for easy hanging. I plan on ordering one of these giant monograms for our living room.


Deb sent me her fabulous Nesting Collection to work with. SO fun!


I used vintage papers and embellishments in shades of white to decorate the shapes. I really love how they turned out!

Yard Sale Treasures!

It was just about a week ago, in the midst of Spring cleaning,
that I decided I didn't need any more "stuff".
Nope, I was not going to buy any more "stuff".
Never again.
I told my husband this, and he just rolled his eyes.

The problem is, I really like "stuff".

Needless to say, my Little Ones and I hit the yard sales bright and early last Saturday.
These were the first sales of the season.
I'd been waiting allll winter!
We did our special "1-2-3 TREASURES" cheer and we headed out the door.

At our first stop, the owner directed me to the toys,
as they often do when they see my Little Ones.
My 6-year old replied, "We aren't looking for toys. We are looking for treasures.
You know... vintage jewelry, linens, buttons... stuff like that."

I'm still giggling about that. I love that girl so much. :)

Our little cheer worked. We did find some treasures.

I wasn't looking for a dress form, but when I saw this I just had to have it. I LOVE the metal chain. 1940's. Perfect. It is so fabulous. It just needs a good dusting, and I will try to get some better photos. The price? $5. Can you believe it?!?!?

Bird prints, vintage metal lunch box , a huge picnic basket, a ceiling medallion, wire basket, crocheted doilies, and some milk glass.


I always buy "milk glass" pieces when I see them.
Authentic or not, I just love these white dishes.
So pretty in a big collection.

I'm thinking that these would be great for product displays at SB this year!

Irish linen hankies, with an R on them.
I'd love to use the monogram for something. Maybe a garland?
I bought all 24 of them... LOL.
Any ideas???


And last, but definitely not least... button cards!
I always scoop these up when I see them.
As you know, I've got a major weakness for these little pretties!

I {heart} stuff!

Pretty in Pink

Sorry for the absence this past week.
It was school vacation, so things were a little crazy around here!
We went to the zoo on Monday.
These beauties were my girls' FAVORITE!
We had to visit them about a hundred times. :)


The rest of the week wasn't so exciting.
Just LOTS of Spring cleaning!
I have no idea how we acquired so much stuff.
Ugh.

Anyways... I'll have some new goodies in the shop next week,
plus some fabulous swap loot and yard sale treasures!

Sugar Overload!

My Little One's classmates LOVED these "Peeps in a Basket" cupcakes that we made.
Seriously, what child wouldn't love all that sugary goodness...

We melted some white chocolate to make our own bunnies for little cousins and friends...


And, when we found this GIANT cupcake at the bakery, and my Little One just had to have it!

Needless to say, we are all on a bit of a sugar high.
And the bunny hasn't even come yet! :)

Counting the days

I had to pause the jewelry making for a few days to wrap up the taxes.
They are now officially D.O.N.E.
Wooohoo!
Now back to jewelry making!


I wanted to be sure that you saw the post that Heidi just did about Brimfield on over on our Inspired Nest blog! Major eye candy! Just one more month! I am soooooo excited!

But for now, I need to start on dinner!
I'm making these for dessert (except I leave out the fennel seeds).
I LOVE Everyday Food Magazine. Always have. Really yummy and fast recipes.

What I've been doing....

I haven't been finishing up my taxes....

I haven't been painting the rocker from the previous post...


I've been making jewelry!


It has been soooo much fun. Definitely a new obsession.
I've been collecting beads and buttons and bling and sparkling stuff forever.
But, I've just been a collector.
I like how all these pretties look in displayed in glass jars.
I like to add bits and pieces to craft projects.


But, I've never really made jewelry.
I've been talking about it for a loooong time.


I decided just to go for it...
I mixed some vintage beads with new findings.


These are some practice pieces.
And a few gifts.
And a few keepers.


I think I like the bracelets the best.


And these necklaces with the flowers on the side. (Really popular right now.)


Lots of bright, Spring colors. So fun!


I'm going to be making more to add to my shop.
Hopefully in time for Mother's Day!
