New Swap! Valentine's Petite Inspiration Boxes

EDIT: This swap is now full. I just sent all of the group lists to the players. PLEASE let me know if you didn't receive one (be sure to check your spam folders too)! Thanks!!!

I thought it would be a fun way to ring in the New Year by announcing a new swap!
I hosted a similar swap last year and it was a BLAST! I've had several requests to do it again.... so why not!?!? I'm thinking that I may host several of these sweet little box swaps this year to go with the holidays or seasons.

Petite Inspiration Box Swap
Valentine's Edition

1. You will be placed in groups of 4 players. You will need to make a "Petite Inspiration Box" for each of the other players in your group (3), and you will receive one back from each of the players in your group (3).

2. The base of the box should be a sliding match box. I found mine at my grocery store in a package of 3 for about $2. These are the larger boxes that measure about 5x2x1, not the teeny-tiny ones. Decorate the outside of each box, and fill them with artsy goodies for your swap partners.

3. The items in your boxes should be vintage or vintage-inspired and Valentine's Day themed. The main colors should be pink, red, and white. Some ideas of what to include: Old buttons, millinery flowers, lace, ribbon, trims, jewelry findings, ephemera, charms, cupcake toppers, etc. These boxes are fairly small, so they should be easy to fill up... just be sure to send quality, usable items that you would love to receive yourself. You can see some of last year's boxes here.

4. You will need to mail your boxes directly to your partners by January 25th. PLEASE only sign-up for this swap if you are able to have your swap items created and mailed by this date. As with any swap, it is reallllly important to follow-up with your promise to make quality items and send them on time.

5. To sign up for this swap, please email me at info{at} . Include your name, email address, blog address, the country that you live in, and if you are willing to ship internationally. EDIT: This swap is now full.

6. I will close sign-ups on Sunday evening or at 40 players, whichever comes first. You will receive your group info by Monday evening. Feel free to grab the button above to add to your own blog. (The beautiful box used in the button was made by Hope, and the photo was taken by Jeanne!)

A Very Merry December

December has been a whirlwind of fun stuff around here.
Parties, cookies, presents, decorations, friends, and family.
I LOOOOOOVE the holidays!
We had a blast, but to be honest, I'm ready to move on.
I'm looking forward to a brand new year.
I hope all of you have a happy and safe New Year, and all your goals, wishes, and dreams for 2010 come true.
I think it is going to be a VERY good year!

And, to celebrate the end of another very good year, here are some of my favorite bits of 2009.

I'll be back tomorrow with a new swap announcement!!!!

Cookies and Crafts

We had a house full of giggly girls on Sunday for a Cookies and Crafts Party. Such fun! We did 5 different craft projects, one of which was these cute-as-can-be mice. I am not a fan of the real ONES, but these are very sweet. This is such a fun and simple craft, we've made them each Christmas several years. The idea came from an old Martha Stewart Kids magazine. (I still have all of the issues of that fabulous magazine. Still sad that it's gone.... sigh.)

I couldn't find the link to the directions on Martha's website, but the idea is pretty simple. You can probably see how they are done from the photos. I'll keep looking for the link, but feel free to email me with any questions, if you're having trouble with them! :)

Cookie Swap

Super-sweet Jessi is hosting her annual cookie swap in blogland today!

It proved to be the perfect opportunity to try these Pink Ladies. I stumbled across the recipe over the summer, and filed it away to possibly make for Christmas. I make LOTS of cookies for friends and family. I have a few favorite cookie recipes that I make each year and then I like to add in a few new recipes as well.

They turned out prettttty yummy! Similar to a super-rich, fudgy brownie with frosting. I may tweak the crust recipe just a little... I thought it was a little *too* dry. These should definitely be cut into small squares (like 1" x 1"). Mine were waaaay too big! They'd be cute in little foil candy cups.
You can try them too! The recipe is right HERE.

Be sure to visit Jessi's blog to find a list of other blogs participating! I can't wait to try some of these new recipes!!!

Ooooh... does anyone have a yummy Italian cookie recipe??? I'm looking for the round anise flavored ones with the confectioner's sugar glaze. I had a wonderful recipe several years ago, and I lost it. None of the recipes that I've tried have compared....sigh.... Help! :)
