Here's some ♥ art that I've been working on!

First of all is the box of goodies for ArtsyMama's "For the Love of Supplies" swap. I had so much fun with this one!

I decorated a cardboard ♥ shaped box that I got at a discount store. We were supposed to use actual candy boxes, but I wanted something a little deeper... to stuff in more goodies!

This was a blast to make. So foofy and fun! This lovely is heading to my partner Jen.
She has a beeeeeeautiful blog! Be sure to check it out!

I also made a smaller version for Melissa D, who was the winner of my Blogiversary Giveaway! Here is her box:

And finally, my tags for the Vintage Valentine Tag Book Swap that I'm hosting. I had so much fun with these. Vintage sheet music, old lace, floral fabric from the 1940's, and some cute trims. I even broke out the sewing machine for these babies! Heehee.

I was inspired by the fabulous projects that Teresa has had on her Winter Bella E-Zine. Of course, I haven't actually had time to make any of the projects, but I used some of her ideas and techniques in the tags. The Winter E-Zine is just finishing up, but she is starting a Sweet Bella E-Zine on Feb 4th.... can't wait!!!!

Blogiversary Winner!

Thank you all for the sweet comments! I really appreciate your words of kindness. So many newbies too! Thank you for coming out of hiding to say hello... I really can't wait to visit your blogs!

And for the giveaway winner....
#20 Melissa!!!!
Please email me your mailing address so I can send you the prize!

And, what exactly is the prize??? I signed up for Artsy Mama's super fun Valentine's Box of Supplies Swap... I'll be making an extra one for Melissa!

I hope that you are all having a wonderful, restful Sunday. I spent the day getting ready to add some new goodies to the shop.... including lots of re-stocks, some Valentine's treats... and a SALE! I'm still waiting on a few shipments, so it may take me all week to get everything on the website. So keep checking back!

P.S. These pics are of an altered book that I started for a round robin with a local group. I chose the theme of "Tea Party" for my book. The "Tea Party" page has glittery steam pouring out from the pot, which is pretty hard to see in the photo. For the sign-in page, I made little teacups of pretty papers with a pocket to hold a tea bag. Each player will sign in on one of the bags. This was a lot of fun to play with and I had a blast with the charcoal pencil!

One year bloggin'

It's hard to believe that a whole year has passed since I started this blog. I had been a major blog lurker for quite a while, and decided that I needed to start my own. I had no idea of how to blog... I just knew that I really wanted to.

I was super pregnant at this time last year. waiting for the arrival of my Littlest One. I had left my job (a job that I loved) to become a stay-at-home mom, months earlier. I was thrilled to be able to stay home with my girls, but I really began to miss the interaction with other creative adults.

At the same time, Speckled Egg was growing. I had started selling embellishments and crafty goodies on Ebay years ago. In the summer of 2006, I switched over to my own website. The move was great for me, but I wanted to be able to interact more with my customers than a website really allows. I think of my favorite local shops, where the owners know your name and love to chat away with you. I wanted to be able to do that as well.

Starting a blog seemed like the perfect way to network and interact with other artsy women. So I did it... and I am sooooo happy that I did! I have met tons of amazing people and really enjoy this community of sharing. I think the best part of this year was being at Silver Bella and actually getting to spend time in person with so many of you. It felt like it was a weekend away with friends that I'd known forever.

I want to thank all of you for this wonderful year. I love reading your comments and emails, and visiting your blogs, and playing in swaps with you. I thank you for making Speckled Egg a growing success. And, most importantly, I thank you for your friendship...

As my Little One would say, "NO MORE MUSHY STUFF"!!! So now for the fun part.... leave me a note on this post, by Saturday at midnight (my official blogiversary) to win a Valentine's Day treat!!!
